Counselling, Psychotherapy and Coaching in Chichester, East and West Wittering, near Bracklesham and Birdham, West Sussex.

Talking things over with an understanding, trained outsider can help people to clarify thoughts and feelings in a safe and confidential environment, make decisions and even make major changes in their lives, to feel happier and more fulfilled.

Counselling is a partnership between counsellor and client which explores the client's experience: the client decides which issues she/he wants to look at and prioritise. All sessions are confidential.

Sorry I am currently fully booked, but will update this page as soon as I have space. Thank you for visiting my website.

I am an experienced Counsellor and Psychotherapist, Supervisor and Business Coach, also a Child Psychotherapist. I have worked for the NHS, as well as privately, for the past fifteen years. I know from personal experience that a few successful counselling and psychotherapy sessions can make a big difference.

My approach

to counselling, psychotherapy and coaching is supportive, motivating and action-orientated. I aim to facilitate and enhance personal insight and empowerment with an emphasis on achieving what the client wants.

I am an integrative Counsellor and Psychotherapist and use a range of training within my practice. I am also an EMDR Therapist, (EMDR is recommended by the NHS' NICE guidelines for working with trauma and I am a member of the EMDR Association). I have recently updated my training with the NHS in emotionally focussed and person-centred counselling for depression and enjoy working with clients to support them finding out how they really feel, what they want and the actions to take as a result. I also work with CBT and Hypnosis.

I work with children, adolescents and adults, for which I have a Masters training, and am UKCP accredited as a Child Psychotherapist.

As a trainee counsellor once advised me, "It's well worth spending the money on, if you are able to, as it gives you the opportunity to hold your problems up to the light, facilitated by a trained professional to find new ways of looking at your life and to feel better. What else would you spend the money on? A few rounds at the pub? Or a new jumper?"

I work with adults, children and couples covering a broad range of issues including:

anxiety, depression, anger management, bereavement, trauma, relationship issues, separation and divorce, addiction, coming to terms with illness, problems at work, unresolved experiences in childhood, sexual abuse, domestic violence, bullying, neglect

My Private Practice

is in West Wittering, in West Sussex. I work part-time for the NHS with adults and with children and young people for various organisations and privately. To contact me to speak further call or email. I try to return calls as soon as possible during office hours Monday to Friday.

My nearest towns are Chichester, Portsmouth and Bognor Regis and I work with clients from across West Sussex, from Pulborough and Petersfield, Brighton, to Worthing and London.

I am actively engaged in continued professional development. I completed an Advanced Diploma in Psychotherapy in 2020 and began a PhD programme in 2019. See Training for qualifications and details.

“I realised pretty early on you weren’t going to tell me what to do but instead help me find out what I wanted”

My training

is integrative drawing on a variety of approaches in Psychotherapy, from person-centred to psychodynamic and existential and is based on a transpersonal philosophy which looks at situations from a holistic perspective. I believe that we all have the potential to learn and/or heal from difficult experiences or life crises and that the therapeutic relationship with a counselor or psychotherapist (who you feel you can work with,) can provide a safe and supportive situation that helps you do that.

Supervision

My training and earlier experience in management, and coaching proves helpful in recognising and naming some of the dynamics that occur in groups and organisations in order to problem-solve and get on with the work in hand. I offer individual supervision to counsellors and psychotherapists as a qualified supervisor and have worked as a business coach and lectured in universities.

“I knew from the start I only wanted to come to six or so sessions and these meetings have helped me enormously”

What is Counselling?

Counselling aims to offer insight and awareness in order to move forward. Sessions are often arranged weekly or at mutually agreed times.

Can it help? Counselling and psychotherapy can help you lead a fuller happier and healthier life supporting you while you tackle issues from anxiety and depression, to addictions, to the after-effects of trauma, accident, bereavement, child sexual abuse, to relationship issues, separation and divorce to anger management. More positively it can help you work out the direction you want to go in life and influence your general wellbeing, happiness and outlook over time.

How many sessions will it take? This varies widely - most people start with one or two introductory sessions in which we discuss how often and how long you want to work on these issues. Some move on to six to twelve sessions. This is usually enough time to confront and resolve the issues that have brought people along to counselling, for some tackling their issues can take longer. It is always your choice as the client to come to counselling and make sure the sessions feel worthwhile to you.

How much does a session cost? See Fees Section - In Brief: My fee for a 50 minute Counselling session is £65 and £85 for a 90 minute session of Individual Counselling and Psychotherapy and £85 for a 50 minute session for Couples Counselling. £85 for a 50 minute session of Individual Coaching £105 for 90 mins - concessionary rates are negotiable depending on circumstances. Supervision fees are also £65 per 50 minute session.

Contract: I adhere to the ethical code of my accrediting organisation, the UKCP and the BACP and the GDPR legislation. The sessions are confidential within the limits of the law. I usually ask for 24 hours notice for cancellation, or charge my usual fee to cover the expenses I've incurred and loss of alternate earnings.

Areas I specialise in: I have worked with a broad range of issues and have found the in depth work I have done with clients around healing from trauma in childhood very rewarding. I am particularly interested in how we can free ourselves from the obstacles that hold us back or prevent us from achieving our goals, fulfilling our potential.
