Counselling, Psychotherapy and Coaching in West Wittering, Sidlesham, Chichester, West Sussex.

Take steps to feel happier, more positive, and in control emotionally right now - call to make an appointment.

Talking things over with an understanding, trained outsider can help people to clarify thoughts and feelings in a safe and confidential environment, make decisions and even make major changes in their lives, to feel happier and more fulfilled.

Counselling is a partnership between counsellor and client which explores the client's experience: the client decides which issues she/he wants to look at and prioritise. All sessions are confidential.

I work with adults, children and couples covering a broad range of issues including:

  • anger management
  • bereavement
  • relationship issues
  • separation and divorce
  • addictions
  • coming to terms with illness
  • problems at work
  • trauma and recovery
  • depression
  • unresolved experiences in childhood
  • sexual abuse
  • bullying
  • neglect
  • domestic violence

    My approach

    - To counselling, psychotherapy and coaching is supportive, motivating and action-orientated. I aim to facilitate and enhance personal insight and empowerment with an emphasis on achieving what the client wants.

Feedback from clients and colleagues give the following commendations,
  • “Julie manages to be both gentle and challenging in her work”,
  • “I realised pretty early on you weren’t going to tell me what to do but instead help me find out what I wanted”, and
  • “I knew from the start I only wanted to come to six or so sessions and these meetings have helped me enormously”.

I am actively engaged in continued professional development, beginning an MA in Child, Adolescent and Family Therapy and am committed to ongoing supervision.

    My Background

I came to counselling myself in my twenties, to help come to terms with some of the experiences I felt were holding me back in life. I can honestly say I believe psychotherapy really does help with life's challenges. It really helped me feel more confident, achieve more at work than I ever thought possible, marry and happily have a family of my own. So I was inspired to change career direction, having enjoyed an exciting and successful career in the media, I retrained as a psychotherapist. I now have a great deal of experience with a wide variety of clients and their diverse lifestyles. I love working with people to confront their issues in order to move on with their lives more whole and complete.

    My training

    - is integrative drawing on a variety of approaches in Psychotherapy, from person-centred to psychodynamic and existential and is based on a transpersonal philosophy which looks at situations from a holistic perspective.
I am a qualified and accredited psychotherapist and counsellor, and BBC trained coach. I have eleven years of experience as a psychotherapist, and also trained as a coach and worked as an executive coach at the BBC for three years before beginning my own coaching practice.
I offer a range of skills from counselling and psychotherapy to business and executive coaching to life coaching as appropriate for the goals and issues at hand.

    Supervision

I have continued my professional development with a year’s training as a counselling and psychotherapy supervisor, in a UKCP and BACP accredited course, and have experience of working for a NHS and privately financed counselling centre, running group supervision. This training and earlier experience in management, and coaching proves helpful in recognising and naming some of the dynamics that occur in groups and organisations in order to problem-solve and get on with the work in hand. I offer individual supervision to counsellors and psychotherapists.
I work with people both one to one and in groups running workshops in some of the issues listed above.
